MAKING MEMORIES

This is the second month we have continued teaching the fruits of the Spirit each Sunday in continuation from Vacation Bible School in October.  The last Sunday of this month was self-control. Any kid that has saved all of their fruit cards and have all 9 will receive a 10-Bible buck bill to be able to spend on something in the Bible store.  We have had new kids (from VBS) continue to come and our Sunday school class has grown to the point that we decided to move them out of the classroom we had as it was a bit tight with 15-18 kids.  They are now meeting in their worship room which is directly in front of the sanctuary.  When you walk into the building, you need to walk through the kids' worship room to get to the sanctuary.  There is a little bit of a sound bleed from hearing the kids during the teaching time in the sanctuary, but this is a good problem. After service they all get their free lunch.  A few of the kids still get dropped off by their parents, so we are praying for their parents to be able to come also.

Some changes needed to be made in the church café.  Natalie has returned full-time to baking and taking care of the day-to-day responsibilities as well as working 3 nights per week on the weekends.  Our goal is to bring excellence to the customers through quality of the products and the love of Jesus through our service.  We currently have six employees and we hope that they have appreciated the change as well.

We had another year of having an alternative to the "Day of the Dead."  Our church hosted an event called "Night of Life."  Children and youth could come dressed as a biblical character and compete to win a prize.  Some of the adults even came dressed up as well even though there was no prize for them.  Everyone brought food to share and enjoyed a night together.

At the end of November, we put up our Christmas decorations at the café.  One of the ladies at the church said she had some extra Christmas stuff and offered to come decorate the sanctuary, children's worship room, and the outside courtyard.  Bags and bags of decorations later... our place looks so beautiful!  What a blessing it was to have her decorate the church with everything she had.  We have never spent money on any decorations for the church, so this will be the first year it is decorated for Christmas.

In the monthly meeting that Natalie has with the youth for the children's worship team, they had a fun photo Christmas scavenger hunt.  The youth were given a list of Christmas items and they had to walk in the city into stores and on the streets to find and take a picture with each item.  It was a race to see who could find the most items and come back on time to get the most points!  Sometimes it just takes something simple and just enjoying time together that makes the memories that you will remember.

We had the biggest turn out this month for the Women's Night with 27 women in total!  It was our annual Christmas cookie decorating event.  Each woman can choose three shaped sugar cookies and three icing colors.  There are all kinds of sprinkles and other decorations placed at each table.  Each woman chooses one of their cookies to enter into the contest and then after everyone has finished, we all vote for one.  First, second and third place all receives a prize.  Everyone enjoyed the night as this has become a Calvary Motul tradition for the women.
